John Coltrane

John Coltrane is arguably the most significant saxophonist of the 20th century. Coltrane is an example of a musician who was constantly trying to improve and evolve throughout his career. His track Giant Steps was revolutionary and still terrifies musicians to this day.

What they mean to me

When I was in college I started listening to jazz. I would not consider myself a jazz musician but I like to think I'm at least influenced by the genre. I feel like I often say that an artists phrasing is good and I try not to repeat myself too much buy John really did have some incredible melodies and phrasing.

Examples

As I've stated Coltrane evolved throughout his career. Instead of trying to pick a bunch of different tracks I'm just going to post the whole album of A Love Supreme, considered by many to be his magnum opus.
