Agustín Barrios

About

Barrios is my favorite composer of classical guitar music. He was born in Paraguay in 1885 and was the first person in South America to undergo cosmetic plastic surgery.

What to listen for

We won't actually be listening to Barrios play his own compositions as the existing recordings of his playing are not that good. Instead we'll be listening to various classical guitarists interpret his pieces.

Examples

Alexandra Whittingham has my favorite rendition of this piece. For my students who learn fingerstyle guitar it's a piece I love having them learn.
